The Ford lineup these days features some of the finest trucks we've ever seen; we're a Ford dealership, so you expect that from us, but even from an objective standpoint, they are fantastic. There's the compact Maverick, the midsize Ranger, and the legendary Ford F-150: a light-duty, full-size truck perfect for many drivers. When you need something that gives you more power and greater capabilities to get some serious work done, then it's time to check out the F-Series Super Duty models. However, before you look for a Ford Super Duty for sale, it's a good idea to check out all three of these remarkable trucks, get a sense of what each one offers, and determine which model is right for you.

Ford F-250 – A Step Up in Power

If you like the styling and features of the Ford F-150 but are interested in greater power and capabilities, then the F-250 is an excellent place to start. As a reference for the other trucks we're looking at today, the 2025 F-150 has numerous engines available, with a 3.5L PowerBoost turbocharged V6 that delivers 430 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque. When properly equipped, the F-150 can handle 13,500 lbs of maximum towing to help you do your job. So we expect the Super Duty models to give you options for more power and greater capabilities, precisely what we're about to see.

The 2025 Ford F-250 has four different engine options, starting with a 6.8L V8 gas engine that provides 405 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque. That's not the best engine for the F-150, but it's much more than the 325-hp engine standard for the F-150. If you want enhanced power, there's an available 7.3L V8 with 430 hp and 485 lb-ft of torque, which feels great on the road. Finally, you can choose a 6.7L Turbo Diesel V8 engine that delivers 475 hp and 1,050 lb-ft of torque. If that's not enough power for you, then a High Output (HO) version of this diesel engine boosts that to 500 hp and 1,200 lb-ft of torque.

You can see that's far greater power than Ford offers for the F-150, which makes sense since these Super Duty models are primarily designed to help you get some serious work done. When properly equipped, the 2025 F-250 offers 23,000 lbs of max towing. That's about 10,000 lbs more towing than the F-150 is capable of, showing you why so many people choose the F-250 for a hard-working truck as part of a fleet. Best of all, you can still choose numerous trims for the F-250, including sophisticated King Ranch and Platinum models, plus the available Tremor Off-Road Package adds 35-inch all-terrain tires and an off-road-tuned suspension that's perfect for forestry work or getting to remote jobsites.

Ford F-350 – Taking Things Further With Great Options

If you're interested in a truck built to get even more work done, especially when it comes to massive towing and payload, the F-350 is the perfect place to start. What we love about this truck is that its position in the middle of the Super Duty lineup perfectly illustrates how Ford has approached its design. You can get the same four engines offered on the F-250, giving you plenty of options for the power and performance you get with this truck. You also have a wide range of trim levels, including the standard XL model and the high-end Platinum model with incredible features inside and out.

What lets the F-350 take things to the next level, however, is the available dual rear-wheel (DRW) configuration, also known as a dually. Just as it sounds, a DRW model features a pair of wheels on each side of the rear axle, rather than the standard single rear-wheel (SRW) configuration. The F-250 model we just looked at is only available with an SRW setup, which works great for most drivers but does limit its capabilities a bit. Going with the F-350 lets you choose an SRW or DRW model, so you have much more flexibility in the kind of power and muscle you get from your truck.

An SRW Ford F-350 gives you capabilities similar to the F-250: up to 23,500 lbs of conventional towing and 27,600 lbs of maximum gooseneck towing when properly configured. Those numbers are impressive, but an F-350 with a DRW setup is the way to go if you need to handle much more weight. When properly equipped with a DRW configuration, the 2025 Ford F-350 can handle up to 28,000 lbs of conventional towing and up to 38,000 lbs of maximum gooseneck towing. This is almost triple the maximum towing of the F-150, which highlights why this is a fantastic work truck.

Ford F-450 – Incredible Towing Capabilities in a Truck

Finally, the Ford F-450 gives you a powerful Super Duty model that's the perfect choice if you know you need to be able to handle the biggest jobs. Unlike the F-350, the F-450 isn't available with an SRW setup; a DRW configuration is standard and your only option with the F-450. Also, the Ford F-450 isn't available with either of the conventional gas engines that you can choose from the previous two models. With this truck, you can only get the 6.7L Turbo Diesel V8 engine, although the HO version is available to provide the best performance and power.

This is a work truck through and through, so you don't want this one out if you're looking for a typical daily driver or something to use for playing in the mud on the weekend. This is an absolute beast ready to tackle anything you ask of it and keep working hard for many years to come. With its standard DRW setup and the Turbo Diesel engine, this truck offers 30,000 lbs of conventional towing and up to 38,600 lbs of gooseneck towing. When you outfit it with the available HO diesel engine, conventional towing stays the same, but gooseneck towing goes up to 40,000 lbs maximum. That's not as dramatic a jump as going from an SRW F-250 to a DRW F-350, but this is still the biggest towing available in a Super Duty truck.

What's great is that Ford still offers numerous trim levels for you to choose from with the F-450, so you can get whatever features you want. The XL is the perfect choice for a fleet truck with its 19.5-inch wheels, vinyl seating, and available 48-gallon fuel tank. If you need a beast of a work truck that can also act as your mobile office, then an F-450 Platinum model features LED exterior lighting, Onboard Scales and Smart Hitch, a pair of 12-inch displays inside, and leather seating that ensures you enjoy every moment you're on the road each day. Although FX4 Off-Road packages are available for the F-450, you won't find the Tremor Package here like Ford offers for the F-250 and F-350.
