2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E

A black 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E Premium is angled left.

It’s clear that battery electric vehicles (BEVs) are making their move to take over the auto industry; nowhere is this more evident than with the introduction of numerous BEV crossover and SUV models coming in the next few years. While competitors struggle to keep up, Ford has already established an impervious foothold in the BEV market with one of the most impressive and stunning models: the Mustang Mach-E. Nothing could be a better example of that than the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E and its incredible combination of bold performance, remarkable range, and stunning features inside and out. While some drivers are concerned about the electric future of the auto industry, if the Mustang Mach-E is a sign of things to come, then we have nothing to worry about.

At the heart of the Mustang Mach-E is an incredible power system with numerous battery and motor configuration options. Starting models with the Standard Range battery have an estimated range of up to 250 miles and can go from 0 to 60 in 5.8 seconds, providing impressive performance even in standard setups. Those interested in optimal range should look at the California Route 1 model with the Extended Range battery, with electric all-wheel drive (eAWD) and an estimated 312 miles of maximum range from a full charge. The incredible Mustang Mach-E GT is all about performance while still delivering impressive range, thanks to 600 lb-ft of torque that lets it go from 0 to 60 in 3.8 seconds.

The Mustang Mach-E is a compact crossover model that can easily fit into any lifestyle while giving you surprising room inside. You will find nearly 30 cu.ft. of rear cargo space in the Mustang Mach-E, along with almost 60 cu.ft. of total cargo volume inside—plus there is a 4.7 cu.ft. frunk to take advantage of, thanks to the lack of an engine. To go along with this, you get amazing interior features such as a 10.2-inch Digital Instrument Panel Cluster screen, a 15.5-inch infotainment display, and ActiveX seating with an eight-way power driver’s seat, all standard. Combine that with the standard Ford Co-Pilot360 package that includes a Blind Spot Information System, Pre-Collision Assist, and much more, and you have an unbeatable driving experience.

Performance

A red 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E is shown driving on a city street.

In much the same way that the engine of a conventional vehicle is important when considering the right model to meet your needs, the battery and motor configurations on a BEV are just as vital. The 2023 Mustang Mach-E essentially has four options available to you, though your choice of model will greatly impact which options you have available. Mustang Mach-E Select and Premium models offer similar driving experiences, while the California Route 1 and GT models are both designed to deliver improved range or performance (respectively). Let’s take a look at these options and what you can expect from each of them.

Select and Premium Battery Options

First, the Select and Premium trims are offered with the Standard Range battery, which has two options for usable battery capacity: 70kWh or 72 kWh. In addition to these two battery options, there are two motor setups: a single motor for rear-wheel drive (RWD) or two motors for eAWD performance. Your choices here impact both range from a full charge and the kind of power the Mustang Mach-E can deliver, with greater speed from the lower-capacity battery. These models with the 70kWh battery get an estimated 247 miles from a full charge and can go from 0 to 60 in 5.8 seconds, while 72kWh versions have 250 miles of estimated range and go from 0 to 60 in 6.3 seconds.

California Route 1 and GT Battery Options

If you choose the California Route 1 model, it comes with an extended-range battery designed for fantastic total range and bold power, though it is not the most powerful option. The California Route 1 can go up to 312 miles on a full charge, with 428 lb-ft of torque that lets it go from 0 to 60 in 4.8 seconds. For truly exceptional performance, you need to feel what the Mustang Mach-E GT can do, with up to 270 miles of range. Where the GT shines is with its 600 lb-ft of instant torque that lets it go from 0 to 60 in just 3.8 seconds; pretty impressive for a compact crossover model.

Interior

The black dash and infotainment screen are shown in a 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E.

The 2023 Mustang Mach-E is gorgeous inside and out; while we love the look of the Mustang Mach-E, it is only fair that we focus on the incredible design of its interior. Although this is a compact crossover, it has tremendous cargo space available for you to take advantage of. You will find 29.7 cu.ft. of rear cargo volume, with 59.7 cu.ft. of total cargo space inside behind the front seats. Since there is no engine in the front of this model, it instead has a frunk with another 4.7 cu.ft. of space for you to load up with whatever you want. With seating for up to five passengers, it is easy to have everyone pile in and hit the road.

Available Interior Features on the Mach-E Select

Thanks to some of the most impressive standard and available options we have ever seen, you and your passengers will hit the road in style. Looking at the starting Select trim, you get ActiveX seating that is incredibly comfortable, with an eight-way power driver’s seat that includes power lumbar support. The Select comes with a 10.2-inch Digital Instrument Panel Cluster screen for the driver, along with a standard 15.5-inch LCD Capacitive Touchscreen Infotainment display and a six-speaker sound system. With an auto-dimming rearview mirror, numerous USB ports and Powerpoints, a wireless charging pad, and more, even the standard features on the Mustang Mach-E are enough to impress.

Available Interior Features on the Mach-E Premium

Looking at the Premium model, you can find a number of standard and available upgrades to take your experience even further. For example, the Premium includes heated front seats that both feature eight-way power functionality, with a Memory-Driver’s seat perfect for multiple drivers sharing a vehicle and available perforated ActiveX seating. The Premium comes with a soft vinyl-wrapped heated steering wheel, multi-color ambient lighting, and a 10-speaker B&O sound system with a subwoofer. All of this comes together to create a remarkable driving experience that you will look forward to enjoying each day.

Safety

It is easy to focus on the impressive performance and stunning features of the Mustang Mach-E and overlook what is arguably the most important thing: safety. Every 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E model comes with the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite of safety features to help protect you and your loved ones on the road.

Ford Co-Pilot360 Features

This package includes Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, including Pedestrian Detection, a Forward Collision Warning, and Dynamic Brake Support. You also get a Blind Spot Information System with a Cross-Traffic Alert standard on every model, which can warn you when someone is lurking in your blindspot and alert you while you are backing up and someone is about to pass behind you.

These standard safety features also include Auto High-Beam Headlamps, which can deactivate when oncoming traffic is detected to help avoid blinding other drivers on the road. You get a Lane-Keeping System with a Lane-Keeping Alert, Lane-Keeping Aid, and Driver Alert, all designed to warn you when you seem to be drifting from your lane—this is invaluable for long road trips when fatigue can start to set in, and swerving becomes more common.

Other Standard Safety Features

Rear Parking Sensors with the Rear View Camera, plus Reverse Brake Assist, make it easier to safely navigate while in reverse, especially while parking; plus Post-Collision Braking is there to help in case the unexpected happens by slowing and stopping your vehicle automatically after an impact. All of this comes together to create an incredibly safe vehicle that you can count on to get you where you need to go for many years to come.
