Year after year, the Ford F-150 has been America’s favorite full-size truck for more than four decades, providing robust power and sophisticated performance for drivers who demand more from their trucks. With the 2025 Ford F-150, this is as true as ever, and we see a pickup that has proven itself time and again, yet the folks at Ford never rest on their laurels. They work hard each year to ensure this truck continues to be the best; if you go looking for an F-150 on sale, then you will quickly discover that you have quite a few options available to you. Not only are there a number of cab sizes and bed lengths to choose from, plus numerous engines available, but you also have eight different trim levels on offer. So, let’s take a look at each of these F-150 models and see if we can figure out which one is right for you.

The 2025 Ford F-150 XL

Here, we have the starting option for the F-150, which is perfect for anyone looking to keep things simple or for those looking to build or add a commercial fleet. The F-150 XL comes with the standard 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engine, which delivers 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, along with a 10-speed automatic transmission and two-wheel drive (4x2). Four-wheel drive (4x4) is available along with other engines like a 3.5L V6 with 400 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque or a 400-hp 5.0L V8. The XL has 17-inch wheels with all-season tires, though larger wheels and tires are available if you prefer.

Looking at the XL model, you’ll see black front and rear bumpers, a black grille, and side mirrors with black caps all standard. Inside, there are a number of impressive features, including a standard 12-inch Digital Productivity Screen for you as the driver paired with a 12-inch Infotainment display that makes it easy to use a variety of apps and features. Cloth seating is standard in the XL along with a basic stereo and sound system; every F-150 comes with Ford Co-Pilot360 that includes Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, a Lane-Keeping System, and more tech to help keep you safer on the road.

The 2025 Ford F-150 STX

Moving up from the XL, the STX gives you a number of enhancements to enjoy and more great options from which you can choose. In terms of power, we find the same standard 2.7L V6 engine with its remarkable performance, plus available options like 4x4 engineering and the 5.0L V8 engine. The STX stands apart from the XL in numerous ways, including body-color front and rear bumpers, a black and dark gray grille, and standard 18-inch dark gray wheels—though 20-inch wheels are available. Inside, you’ll find unique sports cloth seating that looks and feels great, including power driver and passenger seats with lumbar support for added comfort on long drives. This all makes the STX a fantastic choice for a daily driver that looks great while helping you get your job done.

The 2025 Ford F-150 XLT

As we move up to the XLT, we find a truck with several upgrades and enhancements worth keeping in mind if you’re looking for something incredibly fun to drive. For one thing, not only is the 400-hp 3.5L V6 engine available, but you can also choose the Powerboost Full Hybrid version of it which delivers 430 hp and a remarkable 570 lb-ft of torque thanks to its innovative hybrid design. This is massive performance designed to put a smile on your face every time you get behind the wheel, and it’s perfect for handling big projects either for your job or on the weekend. Chrome front and rear bumpers and a black mesh grille with a chrome center bar set the XLT apart from what we’ve seen so far; inside, you’ll find comfortable cloth seating and sophisticated touches like a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The 2025 Ford F-150 LARIAT

The LARIAT comes in right around the middle of the F-150 lineup and marks a terrific starting point if you’re looking for more luxury and advanced options. You get the 5.0L V8 engine standard here along with 4x4 performance, plus both versions of the 3.5L V6 engine are available if you prefer. Chrome front and rear bumpers make the LARIAT look fantastic, joined by chrome side mirror caps, and you get LED box lighting to make your truck even more functional at night. Inside the LARIAT, we find added comfort features like heated and ventilated leather seats with 10-way power adjustable functionality up front, plus a B&O sound system, ambient lighting, a wireless charging pad, and more.

The 2025 Ford F-150 TREMOR

If you’re looking for a powerful truck to take off-road, then this is the place to start with the F-150; other models with 4x4 work well for dirt roads, but the TREMOR goes much further when it comes to hitting the trail. You get a long travel suspension with unique front upper and lower control arms on the Tremor, plus off-road shocks designed to handle the roughest terrain. The TREMOR also has enhanced selectable drive modes, including Slippery, Deep Snow/Sand, Mud/Rut, and Rock Crawl settings. Body-color front and rear bumpers look fantastic, plus you get a unique TREMOR-style hood and badging all over its exterior. You get skid plates to protect the fuel tank, transfer case, and front differential—heavy-duty skid plates are available for added protection. With 33-inch all-terrain tires plus tech features like Trail Control with Trail 1-Pedal Drive, this is the perfect choice for conquering every off-road path.

The 2025 Ford F-150 King Ranch

For a premium truck experience, the King Ranch is one of your best options. The EcoBoost V6 engine is standard, though the powerful Full Hybrid version is available. Accent-color front and rear bumpers look fantastic, plus the grille features a chrome surround with bronze accents, while a two-tone paint treatment brings the whole thing together. The available Pro Access Tailgate makes the truck bed incredibly accessible, while the Pro Power Onboard system gives you outlets to power equipment and devices wherever you go. Inside, you’ll find a gorgeous cabin with a Mesa leather-wrapped steering wheel, unique genuine wood accents throughout, and Recaro leather seating. With a wireless charging pad, enhanced tech for trailering and safety, and a B&O Unleashed sound system, the King Ranch delivers an amazing drive every day.

The 2025 Ford F-150 Platinum

The Platinum is the ultimate expression of luxury and style for the F-150, with body-color bumpers, a gloss black grille, and black side mirrors. Massive, 20-inch wheels are standard on the Platinum, plus power-deployable running boards make it easy to get in and out of this pickup. Inside the Platinum, you’ll find remarkable technology, including a wireless charging pad, a head-up display that projects information onto the windshield, and more. The heated and ventilated leather seating with suede trim and power-adjustable functionality ensures you’re comfortable every time you hit the road.

The 2025 Ford F-150 Raptor

If you’re serious about heading off-road and need something that can dominate every trail out there, while also giving you incredible power when driving around town, then the F-150 Raptor is the one for you. This beast has an available 5.2L Supercharged V8 engine with 720 hp and 640 lb-ft of torque, though it comes with a 3.5L EcoBoost High-Output V6 with 450 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque, giving you amazing power when you need it. Sport-tuned shock absorbers with Fox Racing Shox featuring Live Valve technology are perfect for handling even the roughest trails. There’s a unique Baja drive mode that combines high performance with aggressive traction, plus you get unique Raptor badging inside and out.
